Eric Jon Nordsletten

Eric was born on January 15, 1953, in Berkley, California, to Della and Orville Nordsletten and peacefully passed away on February 16, 2025. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure that touched the lives of everyone he met.

Eric is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Crawford; daughter, Karen Crawford Hale; and son-in-law, James Hale. Together, they formed a close-knit family filled with warmth, humor, and deep affection.

Following his graduation from Chico State, Eric worked as a Hospital Administrator for two years in Merced, California. In 1978, he made the decision to change careers and went to work for Farmers Insurance Group, where he retired after 35 adventurous years. Shortly after, he and Joann relocated to Texas to be closer to his daughter.

Eric and Joann shared a profound love for travel, exploring the world together, with a special fondness for the vibrant culture and rich beauty of Mexico. Whether he was cooking up something delicious, reading a good book, or cheering on his favorite sports teams—the Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, or San Francisco 49ers—Eric was always in the moment, full of joy and energy.

Known for his magnetic personality, Eric never met a stranger. Affectionately known as “Gumbo” to his friends, his fun-loving spirit and genuine kindness made him a friend to all who crossed his path. He had an uncanny ability to connect with people from all walks of life, leaving a lasting impression wherever he went.

In his passing, Eric leaves behind not just memories of a devoted husband, father, and friend, but a legacy of integrity, generosity, and a zest for life that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society.

Eric’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
