My condolences and prayers go out to all of Ernie’s family and friends. 
     It’s been said the measure of a good man can be made by answering “was the world a better place because of the man”  as for me I can say… “yes the world was a better place because Ernie was in it” …going through Central Catholic we were a couple of years apart, but in ROTC he was a person to look up to , but so down to earth even as an officer, and in the “Machine “ looking at the determination he had to be a leader and the precise part of the team was an inspiration.
We were both from the “hood” so we both related to each other.  He was an inspiration and a friend who will never be 
forgotten,  after Central the last time I saw him was at a driver’s license stop at SW26th and San Fernando and after several years he still remembered the friendship we shared as Brothers from Central, unfortunately he was in SA and I was in Houston and we never spoke again.
But the bond as Central Brothers was never forgotten.  Brother rest in peace in our Holy Mother Mary’s arms, and the Good Lords peace…Amen, 
Till we meet again, Brother!!!

Ernie was special.  He was funny, sometimes harsh, but real.  When you needed him - he showed up.  He had a wicked sense of humor which bonded us!  At family gatherings, I  could not look at him for fear of laughing at things oblivious to others.  He helped me so much when my son was killed.  I am forever grateful for knowing him. Ernie, you are deeply missed! I will never forget the laughs that we had hanging out in the break room of the funeral home when I was supposed to be working lol or the many calls I would make to you regarding police escorts. You were a kind, funny, and gentle soul. You will forever be in the hearts of everyone who loved and cared for you. I’m keeping your beautiful family in my prayers, may God continue to give you all strength during this difficult time. Sending all my love

My heart-felt and sincere condolences to the family of my cousin, Ernie. His dad, my Tio Ernesto (Neto) and my dad, Gregorio (Gollo) were loving brothers, and because of this, we, their children, enjoyed some fun and memorable family experiences every time they got together.  No matter how long it had been since our last conversation, Ernie and I would talk, joke, catch up and feel the same closeness every time we connected. I remember going with my sister, Irene, to his press conference when he got his job with Austin ISD and feeling proud of all that he had accomplished. Dear Gloria and family,
   My sincere condolences on Ernie’s passing, he was a great friend and a brother to many of us. His laughter, love of family, friends, and life it self reflected how he lived. He was an example of what the Class of ‘70 was all about from Central Catholic,brotherhood for life. May he be with Gods Speed and have eternal peace. May God Bless Ernie and all of you.

I went to elementary school with Ernie at St John Berchmans Catholic School, and also had the pleasure of working with him at the San Antonio Police Department.  I remember my Aunt Socorro worked as a Nanny for Ernie, Rose and Roxanne and every time he would see me he would tell me how awesome she was with his family and always thanking me for her.   You will be missed sorry we never got to have the elementary reunion that you would always suggest we do.  Say hello to my Aunt Socorro(RIP) for me, until we meet again.

My heartfelt condolences to Ernie's family. He was the first Probationary Officer I had the privilege of showing what I myself had learned. What I have never forgotten was his question to me one day- "don't you ever stop for lunch? " I never did,  but after that I made sure Ernie ate.  He turned out great!  May our good Lord welcome him with open arms and food for his soul. Sgt Francisco Alvarado Jr,  Retired.

You are one of a kind Ernie! You are so missed and I am thankful for the laughs and we had whenever I was a director at Mission South! Rest easy my friend ❤️
