Esther O. Leiva

Esther was a beautiful and loving daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and grandmother who impacted the lives of so many around her. Her two grandchildren were her greatest joy. Esther enjoyed working for the Alamo Heights School district, where she served in multiple roles over 16 years of employment. While she battled cancer for almost four years, she chose to live those four years to the fullest, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. We will all miss her smile and the joy and laughter she brought to others.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, Isaac C. and Otila G. Olivares, brother Isaac Olivares, sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Cliff Kosub, sister-in-law Angelina Olivares, brother-in-law, John Martin, and niece, Sara Olivares.

Esther is survived by her children Martin Sharp (Mariyah), Aaron Leiva (Jessica), Marisa Leiva, and Andres Leiva; stepchildren, Jacob Leiva and Melissa Leiva Casarez; grandchildren, Shelby and Sawyer Sharp; siblings, Elizabeth Gillespie, Noemi Guevara (Richard), Ruth Martin, David Olivares, Samuel Olivares (Susanna), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 from 12:00pm-2:00pm, with funeral service immediately following from 2:00pm-3:00pm at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. Reception to follow.

By special request from Esther, we ask that all guests are dressed as colorfully as she lived her life. Please no black attire.
