He attended school in San Antonio and served a long and notable career in the civil service at Kelly Air Force Base. Eugene and his first wife, Marilyn had 3 children, son David Partin, and daughters Carole and Elaine. Widowed in 1991, Eugene continued to live on the southeast side of San Antonio. While a parishioner at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Eugene met another recent widow Margaret Ledwig. Even in retirement, Eugene could be seen tinkering in his garage repairing various small engines, model airplanes and rebuilding cars and trucks from the ground up. He particularly loved classic VW Beetles, one of which he drove for many years, a 1965 bright yellow Bug.
