Evelyn June O’Banion was called to heaven on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the age of 78. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. June was born on July 26, 1939 in Quemado, Texas to Benjamin and Cleta Mae Partee. She attended Eagle Pass High School and went on to graduate from Sul Ross University with a degree in English. In 1974 she earned her Masters of Education from Trinity University and spent the rest of her professional life teaching English in the Texas school system.
June’s first love was her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a devoted daughter to her own mother. Always the teacher at heart, she brought an incredible work ethic to her family and profession. She was a loyal friend who was strongly fixed in her opinions and not afraid to speak her mind, but always fair. She lived a life of integrity, faith and moral character. June always had a passion for reading and history and enjoyed lively conversation on almost any subject. She was intelligent and articulate with a quick mind and a happy heart. Her cooking was highly praised and she was always a partner of choice in a game of bridge. In recent years, as her health began to fail, her grace and good nature remained.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Melbourne O’Banion. She is survived by her son, Joe-Ben O’Banion and his wife, Megan; siblings, Frank Partee, Lynn Partee, Ray Partee, Bernice Brown; grandchildren, Chase O’Banion, Allison O’Banion, Weston O’Banion; step children, Melbourne O’Banion II, Allyne Jackson, Betty Jean Hardesty and Dan O’Banion.
Our family would like to extend our sincerest heartfelt thanks to the nurses and caregivers at CIMA Hospice. We hold a very special place in our hearts for each of you. June will be missed by many and will always be remembered for her loving, kind heart.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be at Sunset Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11:00am with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
