

On October 10, 2010 we lovingly bid farewell to a great individual, Florencio Moreno, Jr., a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, prominent businessman and profound spiritual leader.
Born on February 8, 1935 he graduated from Edgewood High School, St. Mary's University Theology, served in the Air Force, married the love of his life, Ruby Vargas and started a family.
Having grown up helping his father at Moreno's Grocery he learned at an early age a strong work ethic. His dedication, great personality along with his smile and dimples he ventured into his own entrepreneurship and started Moreno and Sons Auto Parts and Machine Shops, a well known business which celebrated 40 years of service to South Texas.
Throughout his career he has been recognized for numerous accomplishments and generosities, Board Member Union State Bank, So Side Credit Union, Ordained Minister, Catholic Deacon, helped coordinate the Papal visit of John Paul II, he visited with three popes, established one of the oldest family owned auto parts still in existence, devoted himself to St. Clare, St. Joseph, the youth club and the whole catholic community of San Antonio. He was the first Chaplain at Southwest General Hospital, Director of Providence Hospital Spiritual Dept in El Paso, Deacon St. Luke's Catholic Church El Paso, and director marriage encounter movement.
A great friend to all, best known by his family as Jr. School mates Lencho, Chico in the service, Big Moe, Deacon Moe, Dad, Indio to Ruby, of course Mr. Brown and his all time favorite, Papo by his grandchildren, he always added No Moe.
Having traveled the world he learned several languages, he lived life throughout and enjoyed everyone along the way, especially his family at the cabin on the river in New Braunfels. No matter at what stage of his life anyone who knew Florencio Jr. need only to have met him, he will be remembered and loved always. Florencio Moreno Jr. is our dad we love him dearly, respected him, and will forever live life the way he taught us, he gave us everything we ever wanted and needed, most of all he gave us himself. God bless, we know he is with God today, love your kids Teri, Florencio III and Nick.
He is survived by his mother Amelia Moreno, wife of 53 years Ruby, children Teresa Ann & Michael R. Ozuna, Sr., Florencio III & Norma V. Moreno, Nick & Norma J. Moreno, Grandchildren Jenny, Nicky, Michael Jr., Florencio IV, Nathan, Matthew, John Paul, Nicole, Justin, Judith, Jillian, Megan, Mike, Kimberly, and Andrea. Great Grandchildren Taylor, Amerie, Alexa, Michael III and one on the way.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 8;00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
