

A member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Seguin, he was a graduate of Sicily Island High School in Sicilly Island, LA. After attending North East Junior College in Monroe, LA, he graduated from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge in 1951 with a degree in Forestry. He then went on to a distinguished career in the military, retiring from the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rastus and Annie Guyton Thurman; and 8 siblings, Ray, Dinah Schulz, Dinky, Billie, Freida Bonner, Sam, Boots and Cecil. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jo Bess Skaggs Thurman of Conroe; a daughter, Holly Lynne Thurman Brim and husband Lester of Locust Grove, VA; a brother, F. G. T-Model Thurman and wife Frances of New Iberia, LA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Nan Masonheimer of Harrisburg, PA, Wendell Schulz of Monroe, LA; Jo Anne Thurman of Baton Rouge, LA, Diane Thurman of Savannah, GA, Mickie Thurman of Monroe, LA, and Patsy Meyer of Seguin, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service and interment will be held in Louisiana at a later date.
