Ford D. Hicks, age 79, passed away August 15, 2010. He was born on July 18, 1931 in Western Grove, AR to George B. Hicks, Sr. & Virgie Drewery Hicks. SFC Ford served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He retired from Fleming Foods after 43 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Hicks.
He is survived by his children, Dianna Wood & husband Roger and Kenneth Hicks; 4 grandchildren, Colten Batey, Allyson Wood, Samuel Wood and Kristin Hicks; 2 brothers, George B. Hicks Jr. & wife Maxine; Howard Hicks & wife Gloria; sister-in-law, Eva Hicks; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be 3p.m., Thursday August 19, 2010 at Northeast Baptist Church, 2930 Bitters Rd. with the Funeral Service following at 4p.m. Graveside Service will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund @ Northeast Baptist Church.
