

Forrest James Kaupert, Sr., age 85, joined his beloved wife, Laurel, in Heaven on Friday, March 25, 2022. He was born July 18, 1936 to Ruth M. (Tietschert) Kaupert and William A. Kaupert in San Antonio, Texas where he lived his entire life.
Forrest Kaupert was a longtime executive in the transportation industry. He served his country in the Air National Guard 182nd fighter squadron based at Brooks AFB in San Antonio. After that, he began a career at American Airlines, loading airplanes, then moving into management and achieving Operations Supervisor of Airport Services. From 1968 to 2009, he was an executive in the trucking industry at SMT Lines and then Express Carriers - a company that he, his wife, Laurel, and their sons started in 1995. Forrest was recognized as Entrepreneur of The Year in 1999.
He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns. As a boy, he was raised in the Catholic faith, but he and Laurel joined St. Thomas Episcopal Church in 1975 when they moved to Hollywood Park. They were longtime parishioners of St. Thomas, hosting church picnics and parties for the church at their ranch land in Bulverde, Texas. He and Laurel enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family. Being the youngest of 7 children, Forrest spent lots of time with his brothers and sisters. The last year of his long life was also shared with his happy little dog, Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers-William Kaupert and J.L. Kaupert; 4 sisters-Evelyn Evans, Mary Mueller, Frankie Traut, Callie Welborn; and his loving wife of 46 years, Laurel.
Forrest is survived by his sons - Forrest J. Kaupert, Jr. and wife, Mandy, Jeff Kaupert and wife, Roni, Kyle Kaupert and wife, Jadoch; grandchildren - James and wife, Marisa, Brandon and wife, Hillary, Ashley and husband, Jack, Shelby and husband, Matt, Denis and husband, Armando, Viridiana and husband, John, Ruben and wife, Lizbeth, and Juan; great grandchildren - Callan Kaupert, Camila Pulido, Elijah Moua, Victoria Moua, Derek Olivares, Matteo Olivares, Lucas Olivares, and Malik Olivares.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Lupe Rodarte and Julio Valdivielso for the many years of friendship and dedication to Forrest and Laurel through their lifetime and to Frank Holzmann, a dear friend and neighbor.
Forrests family will receive friends & family from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
A private interment will take place at St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the San Antonio Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
