Frances Ann Gillespie (Murphy) passed away peacefully February 14, 2016 in San Antonio. She was born August 20, 1935 in Belfry, Ky. to John and Hettie Murphy, the youngest of 7, but lived most of her life in San Antonio.
She graduated from Belfry High School and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Bill. They lived in Huntington, West Virginia while Bill attended Marshall University, then on to Ohio and Pennsylvania, and finally Texas. They had 3 children along the way, so she was kept busy taking care of them.
Frances was a people person that never met a stranger. Her home was always open for family and friends when needed, and was a community gathering place for all. She would greet you at the door with a hug, and then prepare you something to eat. She was very caring, loving, funny, and could make you laugh at the simplest things. She loved her grandchildren and they loved her because she did anything for them. She was young at heart and always ready to go have fun.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Gillespie, son Brent Gillespie, daughters Sherry Fowler (Bruce) and Connie O’Brian of California; grandchildren Blake and Kyle Gillespie, Cassy and Leia O’Brian of California, Reid Fowler (Kristin) and great-granddaughter Emma Fowler of Wyoming; plus numerous relatives.
