Frances was born in Killeen, TX on July 7, 1929, to parents Veda and Claude Munden. Her mother became a widow when Frances was 6 years old, and she raised 4 children as a single Mom: sisters Earline Munden and Joan Hoyer, and brother, Charles Munden. Frances was the youngest of the siblings who are all now deceased. Frances was raised in south Texas and the family moved to San Antonio when she was in middle school. She subsequently graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1946. She still saw and enjoyed being with some of her friends from that time in her life, including Bonnie Ludwig, Joyce Klar, and Noami Brown. Frances graduated from Southwest Texas University in 1951 with her teaching degree. She married her husband Jesse Mack Wilson in July 1951. He passed away in 1989 after 38 years of a happy marriage. Frances taught high school in San Antonio including Edgewood and Northside Independent School Districts, as well as Ursuline Academy. She retired after 25 years and then taught part-time at San Antonio College for 9 years. She spent the rest of her years enjoying her family.
She is survived by 4 children and their spouses, David Wilson (Virgina), Suzanne Jones (Chuck), and twins Kristen Adamek (Michael), and Karen Bordano (Will). Grandchildren and spouses, Nicole Lechner (Joey), Jessica Shofner (Kris), Brooklyn Bordano, Grayson Bordano, Anson Adamek, and Gillian Adamek. Great grandchildren, twins, Mackenzie and Brayden Shofner, and Madeline and Theodor Lechner. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses. She loved being part of her grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed running her taxi service as she called it, any time she was needed. She was especially proud and happy to be available to discuss her children’s problems or plans they wanted to talk to her about to get advice.
Once you were Frances’s friend, you were always her friend. She knew many people on her call list to send a greeting to when she was thinking about them. She had friends who would confide in her to get common sense advice as well. She relished these talks and said they made her feel needed, which she greatly appreciated. She managed to say something nice about everyone and was constantly offering encouraging words.
She loved the Lord and enjoyed learning about the Gospel while studying several years with Bible Study Fellowship. She and her husband were founding members of St. Mark’s Methodist Church in San Antonio and were members for over 30 years. Frances lived independently for nearly 35 years after her husband passed. In January of this year, she sold her home and moved in with her daughter and son in law, Karen and Will, where she enjoyed being part of their family, spending many evenings on the back patio sharing memories and making new ones.
