Francisco Pereda Jr.

On Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the age of 30 our son, Francisco Pereda, Jr. took his last breath and entered heaven to be with God. He left this life with his parents, grandparents, his five friends/brothers and his other ‘mom’ by his side. Now our son is our guardian angel and shining star.

Frankie was born on August 16, 1982 to Anna Maria and Francisco Pereda in San Antonio, Texas. Since birth Frankie has been a determined person. He showed this during his birth when he crowned and was popping out before the doctor arrived. At the hospital, the nurse nicknamed him “Speedy Gonzalez.”

He grew up in San Antonio and lived a few years with his maternal grandparents until we bought our first home. Frankie went to Northside schools first Colby Glass Elementary then Pat Neff Middle School. For High School he was chosen to go to a magnet school for technology and business which Business Careers High School. He graduated in the top 10% of his class in May of 2000. Following high school Frankie went on to college and changed majors many times until he found his calling. He ultimately decided on computer network security. He got his associates degree from Northwest Vista College. He went on to Our Lady of the Lake University to get his bachelor’s. Unfortunately, he never was able to complete his last four courses due to his relapses, chemotherapies and stem cell transplant.

Frankie worked at Hollywood video, Office Max, Kohl’s in 2004 where he met his DWC buddies that became his brothers. After his diagnosis in May 2009, he did not return to Kohl’s but did contract work with TEKS systems. The last job he held was at his dream company-Rackspace. He loved the job and was truly looking forward to returning there after his transplant. But sadly, God had other plans for him.

Frankie is survived by his parents: Anna Maria (Rivera) and Francisco Pereda; his beloved baby son, Preston Nathaniel Miller; sister Clarissa Ann Pereda; maternal grandparents: Humberto C. Rivera and Eulogia Rivera. His paternal grandmother: Margarita (predeceased). He also numerous maternal and paternal uncles and aunts, as well as cousins. He has a special group buddies that are considered his brothers: Jeffery Turner, Josh Munoz, Steve Munoz, Alan Alcock, Abelardo Perez & Jose Balderas and sister Brandy Alcock, as well as Stacey Miller, mother of baby Preston. I am very thankful to this group of friends who were there by his side till the very end. A true symbol of unconditional love and brotherhood. My husband and I may have lost our beloved son but we have gained 6 more. What a blessing!

Visitation will be from 5:00p.m.to 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Our Lady Of Guadalupe in Helotes, Texas. Rosary will follow at 7:00p.m. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Helotes, Texas. Father John Nolan will be presiding. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2. Services are being provided by: Sunset NW funeral home.
