

He was born and raised in San Antonio, graduating from Jefferson High School in 1942. He attended the University of the South for one year, then volunteered for the U.S. Army in the midst of WWII.
Frank was selected for the Army Specialized Training Program. He saw action in the Battle of the Bulge, entering combat on Christmas Day 1944 at the age of 19. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
After serving his country, he spent almost a year in an Army hospital recovering from frostbite.
He then resumed college and graduated from M.I.T. in 1949. He worked as an engineer at Kelly Air Force Base for over 30 years before retiring in 1988.
He had many interests and loved water skiing on Lake McQueeney, ballroom dancing and traveling by train.
Daddy Frank had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
He was a long time member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Order of the Alamo and the San Antonio German Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Charles M. Dickson and Mrs. Fannie Lacy Dickson; sister, Mary English Jockusch; brother, Charles Dickson, Jr.; as well as dear friends, John R. Shaw, Billy Matthiessen, and Saint John Garwood.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ellen Maverick Dickson; children: Frank Lacy Dickson, Jr., Agatha Wade Charles, Dr. Carey Rote Christopher, Merritt Clements Karen and James Clements Suzanne; grandchildren: Ellen Wade, Mary Wade, Sunshine Rote, Christopher Rote, Brooke Rote, Lewis Clements, Augustus Clements, Samuel Clements and Jennifer Clements; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his poodle, Lady Chablis.
We will always treasure our beloved Daddy Frank.
