A graduate of Baylor University, he retired from the Air Force after thirty years of active duty. He served as the Hospital Commander at numerous hospitals throughout the world and served as Base Commander in Turkey and Japan. Col. Blalock retired from the Bexar County Health Department as the Assistant Director. He was currently serving as Chief of Staff with the Texas State Guard, as well as on the Sisters of Charity Board of Directors and the State Medical Board of Directors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Blalock, and his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Blalock. He is survived by his brothers-in-law, Howard L. Hulsman and wife Debbie of Livingston, Louie F. Hulsman and wife Donna of Lufkin, and Clifford G. Hulsman and wife Deloris of Hurst; sisters-in-law, Marcella De Priest of Abilene, and Alma Cartwright and husband Ken of Fresno, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
