
Frank August Targac Jr. went Home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 14, 2004. He was 93, born in Lavaca County, near Yoakum, Texas on August 27, 1910. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Joe Targac, Sr. and Hulda Quast Targac, one son, Kenneth Allen Targac and two brothers, Phillip Alvin Targac and Edward Henry Targac.
Frank spent his youth on a share cropping farm in Dewitt County learning at an early age how to work for survival. He completed a tenth grade education in a rural school. Frank later attended San Antonio College and received his Associate Degree in Business. In early adulthood, he worked as a gravel truck driver, in a cotton gin, and as a S.W. Associated Telephone Co. lineman. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in 1973 after 33 years of dedicated service as Store Manager over 600 personnel, mostly women during the war years.
After 6 years of retirement, Frank decided he needed something to do to keep busy and active. He was appointed by Aldersgate Methodist Church in 1978 to manage Comanche Nutrition Center at Comanche Park, a service project benefiting Senior Citizens. A noon meal was served 5 days a week to 200 to 300 seniors, who enjoyed the fellowship and activities. He dedicated 23 years to this program.
Frank was reared in the Lutheran Church, later joining the Methodist Church with his wife in 1945. He served at Aldersgate United Methodist as Treasurer from 1965 until 1999.
In addition to his wife, Lenora Muenzler Targac, of 67 years, he is survived by one son, Glenn M. Targac and wife, Ivette of San Antonio; a daughter-in-law, Nelda Williamson of Universal City; 2 sisters, Hulda Roden of Yoakum, TX and Willie Mae Cherry, of Houston. Also, survived by two grandsons, Kenneth Tod McManus and wife, Karen of Edmond, OK, and Christopher Langston and wife, Heidi of Universal City; granddaughters, Donna Kilborn and husband, Lonnie of San Antonio, Dolly Denson and husband, Dustin of San Antonio, Jennifer Targac of Gainesville, FL, Stephanie and Stacy Targac of San Antonio; great-grandsons, Jason, Jared, Jeremy McManus of Edmond, OK, Joshua Kilborn and Travis Langston of San Antonio; great-granddaughters, Alyssa & Cassidy Denson and Ashley Langston of San Antonio.
Frank leaves behind a host of friends at Comanche Nutrition Center who lovingly volunteered to assist the elderly and disabled daily.
