

Frankie received her BS in Chemistry in 1953 from Texas Tech and taught at Big Spring high school during the 55/56 school year. She then completed her master’s degree at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas in 1968. Frankie continued her formal education as part of St. Mary’s law program, receiving her JD in 1975. She taught Business Law at Howard College in Big Spring in 1977 while operating a private practice in the area.
Frankie was appointed as a municipal court judge for the city of San Antonio in September 1983, after having worked as an assistant city attorney for the previous 5 years. She presided over cases ranging from traffic violations, shoplifting, and disorderly conduct to simple assault and public intoxication. She also signed search and arrest warrants for local law enforcement agencies during her tenure with this court. From 1992 to 1999 Frankie served as an alternate judge for Castle Hills and later as the lead alternate judge for Universal City from 2008 to 2019. The current mayor of Universal City, John Williams, proclaimed September 17, 2019 as Frankie Geneva Boyd Day in recognition of her outstanding service to the city. She was credited as being an invaluable source of judicial knowledge and a truly respected role model for the court staff, the Universal City community, and countless others. Her dedication to her career and to the Universal City Municipal Court was instrumental in shaping the court service in that area, Bexar county, and the state of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and great-nephew, Stewart L. Hickman Jr.. Frankie is survived by her sister, Eva C. (Boyd) Mayberry; nieces, Eva L. (Mayberry) Hickman and Renee C. (Mayberry) Olivarez and her family; great-nieces and nephews, Carlie A. Hickman, Crystina (Hansen) Hickman, Zander Olivarez, Zoi Olivarez, and Bianca (Olivarez) Hulsey and her family.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio, Texas.
