

Born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on January 6, 1920, to Frederick and Ella Radke, they moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Fred was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
He obtained his Pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin. In 1946, he graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee with a Doctor of Dental Surgery, where he became a member of the faculty.
Fred became a pioneer in the field of geriatric dentistry. His innovation and charisma joined forces to widen dental care for elderly and psychiatric patients.
Fred was a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. After 25 years of general practice, he accepted a full time faculty position at Louisiana State University Medical Complex at New Orleans to develop the Department of Special Patient Dentistry where he taught for many years.
Fred published a total of 18 professional papers and books on Geriatric Dentistry. Later the American Healthcare Association awarded him with the highest honor given- "Educator of the Year" in 1976. Fred diligently served his nation with honor as an officer in the United States Army.
While in the Armed Service, he met and married Helen Ayleen Herrmann in San Antonio. Ayleen and Fred would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in November. Fred filled those he met with passion and confidence, later calling on those very principles as he met other challenges.
Fred's smile radiated into everyone's heart, filling one with an euphoria of love. Always with a smile on his face, Fred brought peace to those he knew.
Survivors: wife, Helen Ayleen Herrmann Radke; children, Lynn and Porter Loring III, Alan and Janine Radke, F. Scott Radke and wife, Terri Llanas; grandchildren, Porter F. Loring IV, Helen A. Loring, Will Radke, Derek S. Radke; all of San Antonio, sister, Joyce Hestekin, Chippwea Falls, WI; numerous nieces and nephews.
