Garry was born in Union City, Tennessee on April 14, 1953. He was a lifelong runner, outstanding high school and college athlete who graduated from Oklahoma Christian College. All his life, Garry served others. He worked as a youth minister in California, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Texas. Later Garry went to work at USAA and for 24 years he helped veterans and their families with health benefits and long-term care.
Garry and his wife Melissa have been committed members of the Oak Hills Church since 1995 and were mission leaders to Mexico, Russia, and Ukraine. Garry was gifted with a beautiful voice and was a valued church choir member. Even in death, Garry wanted to help others. One of his final wishes was to donate his brain and spinal cord to the UTHSA Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimers & Neurodegenerative Diseases for further research.
Garry lived a life of quiet dignity, duty, generosity, kindness, and love. His family rejoices and gives thanks for the man that he was.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents, John Morris Clark and Martha Jane Clark and brothers, Daniel Clark and Scott Clark.
Garry is survived by his best friend and wife, Melissa Molina Clark, who was his compassionate, loving and devoted caregiver during the many years of his illness. He is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Micha and Mark Golden of Dayton, Ohio and Megan and Brett Olsen of Austin; by his son and daughter in-law Sean and Nicole Anderson of San Antonio; granddaughters, Haley, River, Hannah and Riley Golden and Taylor and Skylar Anderson; and grandson Rhett Olsen. Also surviving Garry are his sister Lisa Griffith (Gary) and brothers John Clark (Janie) and Thomas Clark (Ja-lene). He will also be greatly missed by extended family members and friends.
The family is extremely grateful for the caregivers, family and friends who supported and loved them during their time of need.
Matthew West in his song "Something to Say", states "your life is the song that you sing; and the whole wide world is listening". Garrys life was his song!
