He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Daniel Morris and Carole Rae Morris (Dwyer) his brother, Daniel "Danny" Morris, his daughter, Kandace Lynn Morris and his second-mom, Freda Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kristina "Kris" Lawler, his children, Amber Jones (Morris), Justin Morris, and Samantha Meinke (Morris), his siblings, Diane Morris, Stacy Huitron, Tracy Durham, Wendy Morris and Russell Morris, his grand-children Rylan, Annastyn, Layla and his second-dad, Frank Thompson. Gary loved his family.
Gary became a very special man as he continued maturing through school. He graduated from East Central High School in 1977. Gary became a valuable baseball player at East Central. He also joined the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and took pride in showing his pigs. It became obvious that Garys experiences gave him goals, determination, a caring nature, and a love of learning. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, horseback riding, etc. with his family and friends. Working or playing outside is what Gary enjoyed the most and that is what he did.
After graduating, his first working opportunity was with Frank Thompson at his own construction company. He worked with Frank for five or six years. Gary began a long-term career with Stoddard General Contractors beginning in 1983 to his passing this year. Gary was a carpenter by trade. Eventually, with hard work and experience over the years, he was promoted to Construction Superintendent managing and overseeing many multimillions dollar jobs in the San Antonio area and throughout Texas. Gary started, continued, and finished 47 projects Educational, Governmental, Commercial and Recreational up to 2022. He was a hardworking and loyal employee to Stoddard over his 39 years of employment with them. He loved his job and was extremely proud of his projects.
Gary made friends easily and enjoyed sharing as much time with them as he could doing many different activities. He was the most social person and never met a stranger. The verse below is something Gary probably felt:
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away"
