Gayle Anne Graham McFall of San Antonio passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2023, holding hands with her husband John McFall and beloved niece Caitlin Graham Craig. Gayle was born in Dallas, Texas on May 27, 1957, to parents William R. (Bob) and Tommy Graham, joining her one year old brother, Geoff. A year later, Gayle and Geoff welcomed brother Greg into the fold. The family was complete, and Tommy heaved a great sigh of relief.
Gayle grew up in East Dallas, attending Victor H. Hexter Elementary, Robert T. Hill Jr. High and Bryan Adams HS. While at Bryan Adams HS Gayle was a member of the National Honor Society. Unfortunately, her tenure at Bryan Adams was cut short after she completed her junior year when Bob was transferred to Brownsville in the summer of 1974. She graduated from Homer Hanna HS in Brownsville in 1975.
Gayle enrolled at the University of Texas, Austin, in 1975, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1979. After graduation, Gayle began a career in the financial services industry. After a brief tenure at Charles Schwab, Gayle joined Fidelity Investments where she developed an expertise in managing call centers. This job took her to Salt Lake City for a months-long temporary assignment, then to Fidelity’s headquarters in Boston. In her spare time, she composed flower arrangements for weddings and special occasions, an expertise she drew on to make the flower arrangements for her own wedding several years later.
In 1992, Gayle moved to San Antonio for a job managing the call centers for Security Service Federal Credit Union. Gayle had many accomplishments while at SSFCU one of which she was very proud of was taking the Call Center 24 hours among many other accomplishments. Gayle held positions overseeing the Call Center, Branch Operations ultimately overseeing the Management Information System department during her time at SSFCU.
Gayle elected to retire from SSFCU in 2004 to take on a new challenge. That challenge was to marry John and care for the McFall men, a full-time job in and of itself. Gayle and John were married in 2007 and Gayle fully embraced the role caring for both John and Hunter. She worked Little League concessions, became team mom for many teams which Hunter played on. She learned to score keep, participate in Booster clubs, and design T-Shirts to help support the teams for which Hunter played. Gayle loved to watch Hunter play baseball, football, soccer, basketball through the years. Gayle was very proud of Hunter and all his successes. Especially, attaining his professional goal of becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Gayle was overjoyed when Hunter met his true love, Anais Arteaga. She was so proud to see them married and build a home to start their life together. She wanted nothing but the best for Hunter and in Anais she saw the best, and Henry was the cherry on top!
Gayle and John enjoyed traveling for leisure with trips to Mexico, New Orleans, Boston, New York, San Francisco, with most recent trips to Paris, Spain, France, Italy, as well as many other places. Our trips to San Francisco and New Orleans with Hunter & Anais were very special. As well as, going to ACL with Hunter, Anais, Caitlin & Cameron.
Gayle’s other passion was her dogs. Anyone who knew Gayle knew that she loved her dogs Tucker, Gracie, Ben, Shadow, Mark, Jameson, and Bailey over the years. Shadow began as Hunter’s dog but when he left for college, he quickly became Gayle’s dog and whenever she remembers Shadow would always say the words, BEST DOG EVER!
Gayle has been an inspiration to many and anyone that was in her inner circle felt loved, supported and protected. She was always fiercely loyal and would be the first to offer support of any kind. The world was a better place with her in it. Gayle will not be forgotten and will live in the hearts of those around her.
Services will be held at Porter Loring West Chapel, 1710 W. Loop 1604 N., San Antonio, TX 78251, June 2nd at 2:00 pm. Following the service for those interested congregate at the McFall’s residence for a celebration. Share stories, laugh, cry (Gayle wouldn’t want that) and remember her as best we can.
In lieu of flowers Gayle would appreciate your support for either Susan G. Komen or Planned Parenthood.
