

Mr. George R. Meyer, age 87 of San Antonio, Texas peacefully passed away on October 7, 2023, at home with his loving wife, Lani by his side. He was born on November 17, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to parents, George Edward and Ella (Presinger) Meyer.
George was a life-long devoted Christian of the Lutheran Faith, He served as the congregational President, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chicago Heights, Illinois His life was a living sermon, demonstrating kindness, compassion, and love to all who crossed his path. He shared his faith with a gentle and steadfast spirit, touching the hearts of those around him.
In addition to serving his Christian community, George proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. He later worked and retired from AT&T as a supervisor. He enjoyed traveling in his RV, woodworking and gardening, the latest planting was a fig tree. George enjoyed the yearly summer vacations with his parents and siblings, at Voss’ Resort (Cook, Minnesota). A tradition he continued with his wife, Phyllis and their children.
George is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ella Meyer; sister, Janet Hutzler (Wayne); first wife, Phyllis Lee (Smith) Meyer and second wife, Victoria Meyer.
He is survived by his wife, Lanette (Lani) Walter-Meyer; children, James Meyer and wife, Nans Saarima, Carolyn Meier and Laura Snow and husband, Jeffrey; grandchildren, Madalyn, Maxwell and Hallie Meier, Sabrina Sugden, Henry and Emily Snow; brother, David Meyer and wife, Alice; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Bryan and Nancy Jones and their children, Joshua, Hannah, Zariah and Caleb; Doug and Susan Piske; Rev. Dr. Allan Buss; and Rev. David Reedy; godson John Amidei; his two special dogs, Tova and Katie.
George was strong in his faith and wanted everyone to know about Jesus. George is a current member of the Shepherd Hill Lutheran Church.
