It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Georgia Nan Campbell, who left this world on March 8, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on June 14, 1940, in Stonewall County, Georgia lived a life filled with love, faith, and a passion for learning. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend.
Georgia was a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education and laid the foundation for a lifelong career dedicated to educating others. She devoted more than 40 years of her life to teaching, touching the hearts and minds of countless students. Her love for teaching continued throughout her life and onto her grandchildren as she loved helping them with their education.
Georgia married Donald Campbell on August 4, 1962. They built an amazing life together and lived for their children and grandchildren. Shortly after Don’s passing in 2006, she moved to San Antonio, Texas from Odessa, Texas to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law and small grandchildren. She built a wonderful new chapter of her life as she lived with them for almost 16 years. Known fondly by her grandchildren as "Gigi" and "Gran Nan," Georgia’s love for her family was boundless. She had a huge part in who they are today. She would always tell them “Keep your eyes on Jesus!” and that is something they will always remember.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, especially her 5 grandkids, who were the light of her life. She loved going to support them at their sporting events and everything they did. She was their biggest fan and cheerleader! Georgia was also a lover of simple pleasures. She enjoyed listening to music, watching her favorite TV shows (football especially), spending time in the country with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, beautiful flowers, collecting crosses, looking at old pictures, and catching up with her friends and family on Facebook. Her favorite snack was peanut butter and crackers and a nice cold Coca Cola that she looked forward to every day. She had a special bond with family dog, Skittles. They were inseparable. She loved and supported our U.S Military and Veterans as her husband served in the Air Force as well as other family members.
Georgia’s strong faith in the Lord was evident in everything she did. She spent many hours studying the Bible, keeping a journal of her reflections and prayers, and living out the teachings she cherished so deeply. She always had a scripture to share. She was a good and faithful servant and wanted everyone else to be also. She touched the lives of so many people. Her heart and smile made the world a better place.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald Campbell; father, Cecil Norris; mother, Nancy Norris; brother, Tracy Norris; sister-in-law, Thelma Norris; as well as other family members and dear friends.
