Gerald William Landis, Jr. “Jerry”, age 60, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. Jerry was born December 20, 1962, the oldest son to parents, Rita Marker Landis and Gerald William Landis, Sr. in Richmond, Virginia. He spent his youth in Winston Salem, North Carolina and attended East Carolina University obtaining a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Jerry was the true definition of an entrepreneur. After graduating college in 1987, he helped open several businesses, including a wine shop, Village Vineyard, and always supported local small businesses. He was a proud advocate for business and helped repeal The Blue Laws in Greenville, NC, allowing businesses to be open on Sundays. Along with his eye for business opportunities, his most notable characteristics were his salesmanship skills and charisma. As most would say: “he could sell ice to an Eskimo!” Always here for a good time, he took every opportunity to live life the most fun way possible; intertwining play and business, bringing out his inner child at every turn. You could always find Jerry at a ball game, cooking, playing a round of golf, chartering a fishing boat for him and his friends, or the first to volunteer to play hooky. He was also very generous in his giving, including donating the land for The Oakwood School and sponsoring local softball teams with his wife, at the time, Jenni K. Jerry, who always wanted a family, loved his daughter, Karsin.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Marker Landis. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Karsin Landis and father, Gerald William Landis, Sr., brother Michael Landis, and sister, Jennifer Landis Rodrigue.
