Geraldine Eckert

Her family was with her as Geraldine Hochstein Aberant Eckert went to be with our Lord December 25, 2012. Geraldine was born February 12, 1920 in Nazareth, Texas to a farm family where she endured the hardships of the great depression and dust bowl. In 1941 she graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in food and nutrition. She was a dietician for the next 47 years including the last 19 years at Santa Rosa Hospital as head dietician. Widowed in 1953, leaving her with four children under the age of four, family became her whole life. She loved being with family and friends playing dominoes and cards. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, husbands Leonard and George, and son Tommy.

She is survived by son Jerry(Vickie), daughters Connie and Lorraine(John), daughter-in-law Sandi, brother William, six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Tuesday, January 1, 2013 from 12-3 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Tx, 78218. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 12:30 pm with a Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 pm at the St. Joseph Chapel at The Village of Incarnate Word, 4707 Broadway, San Antonio, Texas, 78209. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
