Geraldine Thompson

She was born in Ottine, Texas to Plenny and Pearl Collier on June 10, 1928. Geraldine grew up in Gonzales, Texas until she was 10 years old, and Luling, Texas until she graduated from high school at the age of 16. She then moved to San Antonio to enroll in the cosmetology program at Wheatley High School. Upon completion of that program, she attended at worked at Hicks Beauty School where she perfected her skills as a beautician. While in Luling, Geraldine met and later married Freeman Thompson, Jr. They remained devoted to each other for 65 years until his death on February 6, 2016.

Geraldine and Freeman had one daughter, Toni Thompson who remained committed to her parents throughout their entire lives. Geraldine worked from home where she constantly styled hair and used her creative talents until her daughter entered school. She then worked in a beauty salon until she retired to care for her mother. Geraldine supported Freeman as he engaged as an Elder and pursued his interest in bible studies for over 40 years. They traveled extensively as he served brethren throughout the country.

After Freeman’s passing, Geraldine continued to travel extensively with Toni and her devoted providers, Debbie Johnson, Kim Thompson, and Maggie Sullivan. Within a 4-year period prior to the pandemic, they traveled out of state on 29 occasions and within the state on at least a dozen additional trips. She enjoyed traveling and dining out with Toni, Debbie and friends on a regular occasion. Geraldine was a gentle and strong woman who was deeply devoted to the Lord, her family and Debbie.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother. She is survived by her daughter along with a few nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Porter Loring McCullough.
