Gilberto V. Vargas Jr, 67 of San Antonio, TX, passed away January 3, 2025. He was born in San Antonio, TX on December 10, 1957, to Gilberto Vargas Sr. and Sista V. Vargas. Gilberto worked in the warehousing, food service, and transportation divisions for the United States Government at Kelly Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston.
Gilberto had a passion for bargain hunting, garage sales, fishing, spending time with family, watching "spooky" & war period movies, eating bar-b-que, and watching Texas Longhorn football games. He valued his family at the highest level and will always be remembered as the most caring, warm- hearted individual.
He was preceded in death by his father Gilberto Vargas Sr and his sister Esperanza V. Rodriguez.
He is survived by his mother Sista, sister Maria Elena Perez, brothers Nicolas, Roberto, Federico, Ernesto, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Dr. Carlos Zem, his care team, and Holistic Hospice for all their hard work while caring for Gilberto. Their efforts will always be remembered.
A Visitation for Gilberto will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237 with a Rosary at 7:00PM. A Procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:30am for a Mass of the Resurrection on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 617 S Santa Rosa Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78204, with Burial to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
Serving as pallbearers are Steven Rodriguez, Vincent Casiano, Pablo Olivares III, Ian Paul Olivares III, Philip Casiano Jr. and Joe Sustaita.
