Gisela was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Franz and Maria (Suffa) Schafer on June 13, 1939. She was very proud of her German heritage and lived there until she married James E Laurent, October 14, 1960, and moved to the United States.
A devoted military wife, mother, grandmother, her family was at the center of everything she did. While her husband served in the Air Force and after his retirement, she committed her life to being a patriot of her new homeland. She was honored by his many accomplishments and supported his efforts with associations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Knight of Columbus, Southwest Area Buckeye Club and many more. To say she was proud of her children and grandchildren would be an understatement, if you stopped to chat with her there would surely be a story of at least one of them during your time together.
She had a life filled with friends and family from all over the world and she enjoyed entertaining and spending time with all of them. She loved traveling, singing, dancing and most of all she loved her Catholic faith. She was a loyal member at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she attended mass several times throughout the week and every Sunday.
Gisela is survived by her children: Christina, Michael, and Corinna (Joseph); Her grandchildren: Kimberly and Jameson and her great granddaughter Zoey; Her sisters Renate and Roswitha; Her sister-in-law Joan and brother-in-law David and many nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her husband James, her parents, her brother Reinhold and other beloved family and friends.
