He was born on August 14, 1952, at Naval Station Great Lakes in Great Lakes, Illinois, to CMSgt (Air Force) Ralph E. Sanborn and Lina Sanborn. As the son of a military family, Glen spent his childhood in many Midwestern states and U.S. territories but always considered Bellevue, Nebraska, his hometown.
Glen served a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Air Force, beginning as commander of a Space and Missile Combat Crew (Titan II). After earning his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Creighton University School of Law in Nebraska, he transitioned into the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG), serving in both domestic and international assignments. Following his military service, Glen continued his career as an attorney, practicing health law for nearly 30 years in the state of Texas, where he later retired. Glen always had a true sense of God and his love of our Lord was evident in all his activities. In 1993 he was baptized at St George Episcopal Church in San Antonio, Texas. His faith and dedication to education led him to serve as Chancellor for All Nations Christian Church University in Canyon, Texas, a role he cherished deeply. Glen was known for his quick wit, sharp mind, and a deep love of history that he enjoyed sharing with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Glen is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Feehan Sanborn; brother, Gregory Sanborn; sister, Sandra Bowers; daughter, Katrina Kupfer and son in law Andrew; sons, Patrick Sanborn and daughter in law Marisa; and Matthew Sanborn; grandchildren Tyler, Lacey and Austin Kupfer, Isabella Sanborn, and nephews Paul and Andrew Bowers and many loving extended family members.
The joy in Glen’s life was family. He would light up, with a sparkle in his eye, whenever the grandchildren were around. He loved to play jokes on them and make them giggle. Being able to “change the traffic light by magic” was a game that went on for years! Seeing the older grandkids growing into adulthood made him so very proud of each one of them. Knowing that Isabella loves school and is poised to be a superstar, always made him happy. The family all knew that the greatest compliment for each of them was a “Nicely Done” and they all would beam when they received one.
Services are scheduled for Friday, November 14th at 10:30 AM at Sunset North Memorial Funeral Home, San Antonio. A reception will follow the service, and he will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at 1:45 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the veteran organization of your choice.
Glen faced Parkinson’s disease with dignity, grace, and unwavering strength. He truly was a good man—faithful, devoted, and deeply loved.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
