Gloria S. Castillo

Gloria S. Castillo, age 82, passed away December 11, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 1, 1929 in San Antonio, TX. She retired from the Civil Service Dept. of Defense, Lackland AFB as supervisor in charge of family housing. She was a member of Westside YMCA Active Older Adult Program and Alice Trevino Lopez Sr. Center; also member of Ladies Auxiliary of National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 421. Gloria was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Ann Castillo, parents, Salvador Mejia Salas and Jacinta Salas, brothers, Jesse and Salvador Salas, great-granddaughter, Mia Castillo. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Vidal Castillo; sons, Orlando (Bertha) Castillo, Gabriel Castillo, Rene (Diane) Castillo, brother, Raul C. (Martha) Salas and a dear nephew, Javier Salas; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren ; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2011 for a mass to be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Rd. with Rev. Msgr. Patrick Cronin officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
