

Gloria Ann Garza Alderete went to be with our Lord and Savior on 17 August 2016. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on 8 June 1954 to Tomas and Frances Garza. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward Garza. She is survived by brother Adam Garza, her loving husband of 45 years Lawrence A. Alderete, son Lawrence A. Alderete Jr., daughter Alisa Leon, grandsons Michael, Augie, Gabriel and Esper, granddaughters Passion, Desiree and Bianca, great granddaughters Emry and Abi.
On 6 February 1971 she married Lawrence A. Alderete and they remained inseparable . They traveled extensively throughout the United States as she provided uncompromising support to her husband during 22 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. She was a dedicated United States Marine Corps wife (TOUGHEST JOB IN THE CORPS), nurturing mother and a friend to anyone she encountered. She saw her greatest accomplishments in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a loving thanks and appreciation to the doctors and staff of San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) in San Antonio, Texas, Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center Thousand Oaks in San Antonio, Texas and Warm Springs Long Term Acute Care Facility in New Braunfels, Texas. Your exceptional collective efforts granted her additional time on this earth to prepare for her journey into eternity.

Visitation will take place from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, 23 August 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 9AM at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
