

Gloria Vasquez Gullong was called to our Lord on September 13, 2008. She was born on April 17, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from San Antonio Vocational and Technical School Fox Tech H.S., attended San Antonio College and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Trinity University. She later received her Master's degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. Gloria began her teaching career at Cenizo Park in the Edgewood District, followed by Kennedy High School and onto Sidney Lanier High School. During this time she also taught night school at St. Philips College and San Antonio College. Throughout her life, Gloria was involved in various organizations: Texas Retired Teachers Association, San Antonio Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Zeta Beta Chapter, Texas Business Education Association, Texas State Association of Parliamentarians Bell Unit, San Antonio Conservation Society and the San Antonio Women's Federation, Inc. Gloria believed deeply in education and wanted all her students to achieve success through acquired education skills. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, George Gullong; parents, Demetrio and Guadalupe Vasquez; brother, Julio Vasquez and his wife, Lydia; sister, Celia Vasquez and nephew, Joseph Vasquez. Gloria is survived by her sister, Carmen Vasquez; brother, Roy A. Vasquez and his wife, Margaret; niece, Mary Virginia Talamantes; nephew, Roy M. Vasquez; and great-nephews, David and Chris Palomo and their families.
