With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gloria Victoria Webber, who left us on September 25, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 81. Gloria was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and cherished friend whose warmth, wit, and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Born on January 1, 1944, Gloria was the daughter of the late Adrian B. Rodriguez and Guadalupe B. Alvarez. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Adrian A. Rodriguez, Norberto A. Rodriguez, and Theresa Rodriguez Rangel.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rolando Santiago Webber, whom she met on the 4th of July at the Ft. Sam Houston AFB NCO Club. Together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty and adventure. Because of his military service, they traveled across the country with their growing family, creating a lifetime of memories in every place they called home. She is also survived by her children, Roberto Castillo Rodriguez, Jr., Gloria Yvonne Webber and Rolando Santiago Webber II; her greatest joys—her grandchildren: Karrisa G. DeHoyos, Joaquin E. DeHoyos, Adriana M. DeHoyos, Cash L. Webber and Sylas M. Webber. Gloria is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Maria Martinez and Rosalee Rodriguez Hall.
Gloria dedicated 33 years of her life to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), beginning her career in 1991 as a secretary and retiring in June 2025 as the Programs Administrative Assistant. Her loyalty and work ethic made her an integral part of the organization, where she was respected and loved by colleagues and students alike.
Outside of work, Gloria had a zest for life. She loved the Hallmark Channel, shopping on HSN and QVC, and especially enjoyed her time as the Treasurer of the Auxiliary at VFW Post 7108. She had a special talent for cooking, and nothing made her happier than feeding the people she loved—especially her future son-in-law, Frank Garcia, who was always on her side and made sure no leftovers ever went to waste.
Holidays were her favorite time of year—her home filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible smell of her food. Gloria had a sweet tooth and never passed up a full-sugar Coca-Cola, her favorite candies or a scoop of ice cream. She loved country music—especially Alan Jackson—and appreciated a good time, good music, and the company of her family. Her home, no matter how humble she thought it was, was always a place of love, laughter, and comfort.
She loved her children deeply, but her heart belonged to her five grandchildren. Their beloved Grandma Gooie, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them—they were truly the light of her life. She carried a deep faith and believed in using the image of God within her to protect and guide her loved ones. That faith gave her the strength to love her grandchildren unconditionally—for exactly who they were—and to always do right by them. She poured love, wisdom, and hope into their lives, always striving to help shape them into the very best versions of themselves.
Her legacy is one of love, loyalty, and laughter. Her strength, humor, and fierce devotion to her family will never be forgotten. Her love lives on in all of us.
The committal service will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 2:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at shelter #2.
