Gregorio Rendon entered into the loving arms of our Lord on September 12, 2024, at the age of 71. He was born on May 9, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, to Vicenta Martinez and Manuel Rendon. Gregorio lived his life in vibrant color, with a passion for music, family, and friends that was truly infectious to everyone around him.
After attending Burbank High School, Gregorio continued his studies at San Antonio College before discovering his true calling in bartending. Gregorio was a bartender for much of his life, where his love for good times, laughter, and lively conversations brightened every establishment he worked in. Known for his fondness for a good drink, a lively party, and even some occasional wild choices, Gregorio lived life entirely on his own terms. He had a deep love for disco music, with Cher as his ultimate idol. His admiration for her was so profound that he practically worshipped her music and style, bringing a bit of that iconic '70s energy into his own life.
Family gatherings to celebrate weddings, quinceaneras, and holidays were very special to Gregorio. He always enjoyed a good barbeque or tamalada and loved savoring the leftovers, always appreciating life’s simple pleasures.
Thanksgiving held a special place in Gregorio’s heart. It was the holiday he dedicated to friends and loved ones beyond his immediate family, especially those who would otherwise be alone for the holiday. His gatherings were filled with joy, warmth, and gratitude, reflecting the care and dedication he had for those closest to him.
In June 2016, Gregorio married the love of his life, James Bell Jr., though their journey together began a decade earlier when they met at a party through a mutual friend. Their bond grew stronger over the years, culminating in a marriage filled with love, respect, and countless shared memories.
Gregorio will be joyfully reunited in heaven with his parents, Vicenta and Manuel Rendon; his siblings, Manuel Rendon, Luisa Gonzalez, Adela Martinez, Vidal Rendon, Jose Luis Rendon, and Ricardo Rendon; his best friend, Hector Barron; and several beloved nephews.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his devoted husband, James Bell Jr.; his siblings, Jesus Rendon (Ernestina), CW4 (RET) Manuel M Rendon (Ester), and Rene Rendon; and his cherished fur companion, Raisin. Gregorio’s love will continue to be felt by his nieces, nephews, and extended family members, as well as his numerous friends.
The Rendon family wishes to extend a special thanks to Gregorio’s neighbors—Donald, Norma, and Frankie—for the unwavering support they provided to both Gregorio and James. They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Barbara Taylor for the exceptional care she provided to Gregorio throughout his journey.
