

He was a loving and caring father, as well as a faithful Presbyterian Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA. Rev. Armendáriz was born December 18, 1904 in San Carlos, Chihuahua, Mexico. Together with his parents and siblings, he emigrated to the United States of America in 1913.
He attended Lydia Patterson Institute in El Paso and graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary APTS in Austin. Rev. Armendáriz was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in 1931 at The Mexican Presbyterian Church Memorial in San Marcos, Texas. He served pastorates in Galveston, Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Dallas and San Benito, Texas; San Bernardino and Coachella, California and Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona. These churches represented four Presbyterian denominations that included The Presbyterian Church US, The United Presbyterian Church, The National Presbyterian Church of Mexico and The Presbyterian Church USA, from which he was Honorably Retired. Rev Armendáriz' ministry was recognized by receiving the Distinguished Alumnus Award from APTS in 1986.
In addition to his devotion to his ministry, Rev. Armendáriz had a passion for music that he enthusiastically shared with his family and in his retirement years devoted time to making and playing violins.
Rev. Armendáriz was preceded in death by his loving wife and partner in ministry, Hermelinda Pacillas Armendáriz; his parents Serapio and Encarnación Armendáriz and ten siblings.
He is survived by his brother Rev. Rubén M. Armendáriz of Houston, TX and his eight children: Hermelinda Hernandez of Houston, TX; Rubén P. Armendáriz and his wife Dr. Cynthia Díaz de León of San Antonio, TX; Josué P. Armendáriz and his wife Mary Ann of Hitchcock, TX; Bernice Cole of Indianapolis, IN; Helen Zapata and her husband Daniel of Scottsdale, AZ; Benjamin P. Armendáriz and his wife Helen of Austin, TX; Dr. Efraim P. Armendáriz and his wife Edna of Austin, TX; and Dina Armendáriz of Fraizer Park CA. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and long time family friends Jesus and Celia Plata and their family of San Benito, TX.
Pallbearers: Alfred Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Joel Armendáriz, Julian Armendáriz, Joshua Armendáriz, Daniel Zapata, Michael Cole, Matthew Armendáriz, Paul Armendáriz and Greg Rader.
