Guadalupe Granado Duran, age 85, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in San Antonio on December 21, 1928 to Jose and Marcos Granado, and lived in the area most of her life. Lupe was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Honeycreek, Spring Branch. She was a resident of Bulverde, Texas. She was also a long time member of the Lion's Field where she loved to work on her ceramics.
Lupe, an only child and orphaned at 9, always wanted a house full of children -and that's what she and Richard had. A stay-at-home mom, Lupe truly enjoyed raising her children. Besides the cooking and cleaning she spent her time taking her kids to swimming lessons, coached her girls volleyball, baseball and softball games, gymnastics and tennis games . They also loved traveling and made their dream trip to Rome, Italy for the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Lupe loved gardening. Some of her favorite flowers included roses and canna lilies. At Christmas time it was the Poinsettia. She had Richard build her flowerbeds everywhere: around the house and backyard. Even when she was unable to garden, Lupe enjoyed receiving plants and flowers for her home.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Susan, grandsons, Carlos Duran Alonso, Adam Duran Alonso and her son-in-law Ralph Rogers. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Richard E. Duran and her children, Richard L. Duran & wife Mary Duran; Martha Duran; Mary Guadalupe Campos & husband Gilbert; Norma Rogers; Bobby Duran & wife Melissa; Jenny D.
