

We are sad to announce that Gustavo (Gus) G. Flores Jr., age 69, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas after a long illness. Gus was born on August 23, 1954, in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents, Nellie T. Flores and Gustavo G. Flores Sr. Gus grew up in Robstown, TX where he was devoted to scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 185 and earned the Catholic Ad Altare Dei Medal. Growing up in Robstown, Gus was a devout member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Every Easter season, Gus could be seen playing the role of Jesus, even carrying a wooden cross through the streets of Robstown as the church commemorated the passion of Jesus Christ.
After graduating from the University of Corpus Christi, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Gus discovered his love for teaching and coaching. Gus used his talents at Kazen Middle School, South San High School and Marshall High School in San Antonio, TX. Gus was also employed for almost ten years as a customer specialist at USAA Bank.
Always close to the Catholic Church, Gus became a eucharist minister at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and a member of the Knight of Columbus council #7983. Gus was a devout catholic who spent countless hours reading and sharing his faith and the Bible.
As Gus embarks in his final journey to be with our heavenly father, he reunites with his parents Nellie T. Flores and Gustavo G. Flores Sr. Gus is survived by his wife of 39 years, Yolanda Silva Flores; son, Gustavo G. Flores III; daughter, Sarah D. Flores; grandson, Alejandro Daniel Patino; and brothers, Hector (Marta Guerra) Flores and Mark (Cynthia Molina) Flores. Gus will also be remembered fondly by his aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, cousins, and countless friends including his fellow parishioners from Prince of Peace.
The family of Gus Flores invites loved ones and friends to join them in honoring and paying tribute to his wonderful life. May Gus rest in God’s Loving embrace.
