Guy Bruce Seay, aged 88, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2025. He was born in Union, SC, on May 9, 1937 to James Russell and Gladys Liner Seay, the younger of two sons. After graduating from Union High School, Guy answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he served for 6 years, including a tour in Vietnam. His years in the military shaped his character and instilled in him the values of discipline, integrity and commitment. Guy was proud of his service and spoke often of the friendships he forged and the lessons he learned during his time in uniform.
Guy would eventually land in San Antonio, Texas, where he attended and graduated from St. Mary’s University, earning an MBA. He embarked on a successful career in Mortgage Lending and Commercial Real Estate Banking for over 25 years. It was in San Antonio where Guy met the love of his life, Caroline Haight, in 1982 while heading up the Real Estate Lending Department at Republic Bank. They got married in 1985 and shared a wonderful life together for 40 years.
Always seeking new challenges, Guy later transitioned into doing consulting work for USAA Real Estate Company and eventually as an employee for a total of 14 years. After retirement there, he worked as a real estate consultant to an institutional investor where he forged new business relationships that he thoroughly enjoyed. The Real Estate Game (as he called it) was his muse.
Although, Guy was not a University of Texas graduate, the Longhorns became “his team” when it came to sports. He looked forward to watching them play football always decked out in burnt orange and white. He truly loved giving the “Hook’em Horns” sign to fellow fans or foes in a good-natured manner.
Running was a passion for him, which he embraced in the 1970’s. He enjoyed being a part of the Mac Pac running community in San Antonio, where he cultivated lasting friendships throughout the years. He enjoyed the kinship and encouragement from his fellow runners while training for many competitive runs and marathons, which he proudly always completed.
Guy was predeceased by his parents, James and Gladys Seay, his brother, Richard “Dick” Seay and his daughter, Gwen Seay. He is survived by his beloved wife, Caroline; his sister-in-law, Nancy Summers, and her husband, John; nieces, Elizabeth and Rhett Gore; Sarah and Mike Gardner; and Caroline Summers. One great nephew, Greyton Gore; three great nieces, Grace Gore, Summer and Savannah Gardner.
Despite the many challenges Guy endured in his lifetime, he chose to look for the positive and persevered. He gained immense satisfaction when given the opportunity to mentor or provide counsel to friends and colleagues, a role he relished. “A life well lived” epitomizes Guy. His life was a testament to service, kindness and integrity. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A special thanks to the staff at North Central Baptist Hospital and the ARU for their compassionate care. And, deep gratitude to all the team at The Broadway for their love, support and prayers.
