Dr. Harold D. Murray, age 86, passed away in his sleep on June 22nd in San Antonio, Texas. Harold, born in Neodesha, Kansas, was the youngest of two sons of Claude and Beulah Murray. Raised in Fort Scott, Kansas, he was the first person in his family to attend college when he received his B.A in Biology from Ottawa University in 1952. Harold went on to obtain a M.S. in Biology from Kansas State College in 1953.
He was drafted into the military from 1953 to 1955 where he was an instructor at the Medical Field Service School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and rose to the lofty rank of Corporal. Harold later earned his Ph.D in Zoology at Kansas University. In 1961, Harold assumed a position in Biology at Trinity University, a position he held until his retirement in 1999 after 38 years of continuous service. Harold's favorite activities were reading, going on cruises, and going to Bombay Bicycle Club at lunchtime.
He was married to his wife, Beverly, for 56 years until her untimely passing in 2011. Harold is survived by his son, Stephen.
A private memorial service was held for the family.
