

Harriet Lorraine Dawe passed away February 8, 2017 at 97 of pneumonia. She was born June 4, 1919, 6th of 10 children to Harry and Bessie Francisco in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania. In 1938, she married high school sweetheart, William S. Dawe, who became an Air Force fighter pilot after WWII. They traveled the world, moving often, Japan, the east and west coast of the U.S, twice to England, and twice to Germany, during which time they had seven children: Sandra, William, Susan, twins Daniel and Deborah, Tracy and Sally.
After raising her children and Bill's retirement as a civilian airline pilot in 1975 Harriet went to work at John Wannamaker's department store in Morrestown, New Jersey. Harriet continued to work until she was 81 years old in 2000 when she decided on a move to Air Force Village I in San Antonio, Texas, a retirement community for Air Force Officers and their spouses. She was active there gardening, working out, worshipping, assisting teachers at the nearby Valley Hi elementary school and volunteering in the Health Care Center. Although still mobile and strong, in her last 3 years she was looked after by the loving nursing staff of The Mission, the assisted living facility on the campus.
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Chester, Margaret, Ruth, Betty, Anna, Mary, Helen, Harold, George; her daughter, Deborah; and her husband, Bill. She was survived by 6 children, 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held February 18, 2017 in the chapel at the Village for Texas family and friends.
She was interred next to her husband and daughter in the Fairview Cemetery after a service at the Grace United Methodist Church of Pen Argyl on July 7, 2017 with 77 family members in attendance.
