Harvey Albert Steiger

He had lived in San Antonio since July 1999 when he and his wife moved from their Kansas farm. He has lived in an Alzheimer's unit at Morningside Manor until a recent move to the Haven in Stone Oak, his last residence.

In his life, Harvey was a gifted athlete, an avid hunter, a hard-working, successful Kansas farmer, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a leader in his community, a man of integrity, a good neighbor, and a faithful friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ida Steiger; his sister, Alice Faye Steiger; his daughter, Patricia Leonard; and his great grandchild, Chelsey Kear.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Vera; his son, Robert and his wife, Susan of San Antonio; grandchildren, Abigail and Cathryn Steiger of San Antonio, Gina Kear of El Dorado, Kansas, Danny Kear of Colby, Kansas, Robin Leonard of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and Sheila Leonard of Salina, Kansas; great grandchildren, Scott Kear, Colorado, and Danielle Cameron of Salina, Kansas.

Interment will be held later in the Menlo Cemetery, Menlo, Kansas.
