

She died peacefully in her own home at the age of 102.
She was born in Cleburne, Texas in 1904 and completed high school there.
She graduated from Texas Christian University with B.A. and Master's Degrees in English Literature. Hazel sang professionally on the radio in Ft. Worth after college.
She did additional graduate work at the University of Chicago, the University of Oxford in England and the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
Hazel married Joseph S. Morris in 1932. He preceded her in death in 1994, after 62 loving years of marriage.
Hazel was an accomplished musician, dedicated Bible study leader at First Presbyterian Church, where she belonged for 70 years.
She was a member of the Battle of Flowers Association, the Military Civilian Club, the DAR, the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Order of the Thistle, the San Antonio Genealogical Society and Historical Society, San Antonio Country Club, a Charter Member of the Plaza Club and was President of the Alamo Heights-Terrell Hills Garden Club.
She is survived by daughter, Lynne Morris Barnett and son-in-law, Dr. Walker B. Barnett; daughter, Jean Morris Stevenson and son-in-law,. Donald E. Stevenson; grandchildren, Kathleen Carter and husband, Eric, Laura Reilly, Robin W. Hooks and husband, Thomas. She has 3 great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Alexandra and Emma Carter.
The family is grateful for the care lovingly given by Florinda Tovar for 12 years and her daughter, Sonya Estrada.
