Hector J. Flores

Hector began his lifetime of service in the United States Army in 1975. He served until 1979 where he trained and traveled to Germany. Following this Hector continued his career of service when he joined the San Antonio Police Department in 1980. From here Hector honorably served the City of San Antonio for 35 years. Hector retired from the Police Department in 2016.

In affiliation with the SAPD, Hector was a member of the San Antonio Hispanic Police Officer Association and the Blue Knights.

Hector loved the San Antonio Spurs & Dallas Cowboys and avidly tuned in to cheer on his favorite teams.

Hector could often be found on either his beloved Harley Davison motorcycle or his John Deere tractor.

Following his retirement Hector could often be found tending to his hard earned land in Floresville, Texas. Hector was also no stranger to taking road trips to California to visit his grandson Christian. Hector’s love of music lead to his newly acquired past time of DJing. He could often be seen hosting events under the name Crystal Clear Sounds. Above all Hector relished in spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Petra Trevino Flores; and sister-in-law, Frances M. Rodriguez. Hector is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lucia R. Flores; children, James D. Mendez and wife Marion, Jennifer Starr and partner Naomi, Jasmine Crystal, Jacquelyne Marie, and Juliet Emerald; grandchild, Christian Jayce Garcia (his Little Guy); siblings, Elsa, Fernando, Vicente, Jesse and wife Carmen, Oscar, Norma, and Ruben; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; adopted family of the heart, Mary, Jaiden, Zaybriel, Emily, Caleb, Corinth, and Canaan, and a lifetime of friends and fellow officers.

The family will be receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
