

She was born April 10, 1914 in Moscow, Idaho to Herbert D. and Maud F. Martin.
She attended the University of Idaho where she was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. On May 26, 1934 she married Kenneth D. Orr also of Moscow, Idaho. Together they lived a full and rewarding life and were married for 72 years. For 35 years they enjoyed an Army career that took them to Germany, Japan and many stateside assignments, and together they shared over 35 years of active retirement.
Helen was a 60+ year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and a charter member of Chapter BX, San Antonio, Texas; a 75 year member of Delta Gamma Fraternity; the DAR; Eastern Star; and a member of Windcrest United Methodist Church.
She was preceeded in death by her beloved husband, Maj. Gen. Kenneth D. Orr, MD, US Army retired.
Helen is survived by her children, Charles K. Orr and his wife, Ann of Kerrville, Texas and their children Bruce and Susan; Mary O. Garber and her husband Richard of DePere, Wisconsin and their children Gary and Laura; Victor H. Orr of Antelop, California and his wife Donna and their children Victor and Richard; and Margaret O. Doleac and her husband Phil of Portland, Oregon and their children Jason, Michael, Kenneth, and Suzanne. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, Helen, Henry, Allison, Sam, Justin, Kendal, Carter, Addison, Vallery, Alan, and soon-to-be-born Taylor; her sister Ann Brunzell of Gaithersburg, Maryland; her sister-in-law Kathryn Rogers of Moscow, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews; and her very special friend Edward Grohosky of San Antonio, Texas.
Helen's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Esplanade Gardens, the Odyssey Hospice staff, Rev Greg Hackett and Rev. Ray Davis of Windcrest United Methodist Church, and her many friends for their care and loving support.
