

Helen H. Sorensen died peacefully on November 5, 2023, in Mansfield Texas. She was 90 years old.Born to Fred and Ruth Hadorn on November 30, 1932, in Manhattan, Kansas, she was raised in the farming community of Beattie, Kansas. She graduated from Beattie High School in 1951. She went to business school in Denver, Colorado and worked as a personal assistant until she married.
She met her future husband, James Sorensen, while she was working as a hostess at the USO in Denver. They married in Denver in 1952 and were married for 52 years until his passing in 2005.
She worked as a homemaker and raised her three children, Greg, Sharon and Wayne in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, OK. She provided a wonderful upbringing for her children, camping nearly every weekend for years at various lakes in Oklahoma, RVing all over the US with Jim and her children, and supporting all three of her children in their academic and extracurricular activities.
She started her own advertising specialties business after her third child left for college. She and Jim travelled extensively, RVing with friends as well as international travel. They enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and socializing with their many friends both in Colorado during the summers and in San Antonio in the winters.
Helen was a longtime member of Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX. She was active in worship, bible study, and the outreach ministry ‘Haven for Hope’. She loved to bake and was an especially gifted pie maker. Many fellow congregants and the people served by ‘Haven for Hope’ benefited from that skill. She also loved gardening and spending time outdoors.
Helen loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. We were all blessed by her presence in our lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Fred Hadorn, husband James Sorensen, son Greg Sorensen, brother Marvin Hadorn, sisters Anna Thomas and Mickie Dunne.
She is survived by her sister Peggy McManus, daughter Sharon Cornell and husband Jim, son Wayne Sorensen and wife Laurie, daughter-in-law Ann Sorensen, grandchildren Marisa and Bryan Cornell and wife Stacey, Julie Fox and husband Ben and Randall Sorensen, Eric and Michael Sorensen, great-grandchildren James, Lucia, Andrew Poot, Wesley Fox and many beloved nieces and nephews.
