
Helene grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Hartford Public High School and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Julius Hartt School of Music where she majored in voice and piano. She performed as a soloist in Connecticut and New York City and had the distinction of performances in several of the first light operas ever televised in 1943 and 1944.
Helene spent the majority of her professional life in the banking industry and was named Business Woman of the Year.
After retirement, Helene resided in Germany, Tennessee, Virginia, Arizona and Texas as she traveled with her daughter and son-in-law as they moved from place to place with the military. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Christopher, now a Naval officer and Stephanie, now a college student, and who inherited an extreme love of music and musical talent from her grandmother.
Helene was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Walter Freitag.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Fogg Kading and husband Steven Kading, of Helotes, Texas, grandchildren Christopher Kading of Athens, Georgia and Stephanie Kading of Helotes, Texas; brother Paul Freitag of Barrington, Illinois, sister Martha Freitag Kuehn of Washington, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
