Herbert Ponce

Herbert Ponce lost his courageous fight against cancer and went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2012. He was born January 30, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Herbert and Georgia Ponce. Herbert was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and attended St. Mary’s University. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. Herbert worked at Southwestern Bell (AT&T) and retired in 2003.

Herbert was preceded in death by his father, Herbert B. Ponce and brother, Daniel G. Ponce. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria E. Ponce; mother, Georgia Ponce; sons, Glen Ponce and wife Melissa, David M. Barrientos and wife Nicolette and John Barrientos and wife Sara; daughter, Cynthia Alviar and husband Alex; grandchildren, Savanna and Davin Ponce, Noelle, Cameryn, and Alexander Joseph Alviar, Michelle, Michael, and Jaclyn Barrientos as well as Ava and Liliana Barrientos;

brother, Richard Ponce; sister, Dolores Schall and husband Chris; nephew and niece, Eric and Cassandra Schall.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 5-7PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 1, 2012 at 10:00AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
