Hilaria G. Gonzales, born on July 13, 1926 in Sabinal, TX was called to be with the Lord on June 21, 2018 at the age of 91. She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Guerrero and Juanita Campos; children Carlos M. Gonzales, Rebecca F. Gonzales and Julian G. Gonzales. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 70 years, Benino H. Gonzales; sisters Mary Lopez and Ruby Guerrero of Boerne, TX, aunt Pauline Sanchez of Kerrville, TX, children, Jose R. Gonzales, Herlinda G. Martinez (Edward), Benino C. Gonzales (Rosie), Susie A. Chavarria, Christine R. Maldonado (Xavier), Catherine M. Gonzales, Sandra L. Gonzales and Virginia G. Gonzales, son-in-law Charles Jacobs, 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Lala, as she was lovingly known by family and friends was a devout member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church for over 60 years. Lala was known for her everlasting devotion to her family. She loved to cook for everyone and she made the best fried chicken, beef noodle casserole and peach cobbler. When cooking, she never used a recipe and love was her main ingredient in all her dishes. As her children grew she was very involved in their sports. She sat in the stands and cheered proudly for her children and their teams. In her earlier years she hosted many Bonco, Stanley and Tupperware parties for friends and family and loved hosting weekend parties and dancing. From the time her first and last grandchild was born, she cared for each and every one in her home until they were of school age. She even cared for family friends’ children who she loved dearly and thought of as her own grandchildren and they lovingly called her grandma.The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. July 9, 2018 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Procession will depart from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. 314 Merida St., San Antonio, TX 78207. Interment will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
