

He was born and raised in Lamesa, TX. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Coon and his wife, Alice moved to San Antonio in 1957. They were charter members of Northeast Baptist Church in 1960, but services began before that in their home. He served as Deacon, Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and many other committees and activities.
He was employed with General Supply Company for 25 years. Mr. Coon then opened and operated his own construction company, Coldcraft Inc, until May 2005. Among the most notable construction projects, Mr. Coon was involved with are Hemisfair, the original construction of the Hemisfair Arena as well as when the roof was raised, the Tower of the Americas, Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University, Patio Foods Gebhardt Foods, Martin Foods and Glazier Foods. He was involved with the construction of most Cold Storage facilities in South Texas. He also constructed the Convention Center in Wichita, KS and was a consultant on the construction of the Louisiana Superdome as well as numerous other projects.
Mr. Coon was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Clora Coon; his brothers, Claude and Everett Coon; and his son Danny Coon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice A. Coon; son, Michael Coon; grandchildren, James and Suzanne Coon; 1 great grandchild; brothers, Aaron and wife Millie, Jim, Wayne, Kenneth, Jerry and wife, Gwen and Sam Coon; sister, Peggy Coon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Cancer Therapy and Research Center CTRC, Attn.: Donor Relations, P.O. Box 1657, San Antonio, TX, 78296, a church of choice or any other charitable organization of choice.
