Ian McBean, 80, of Victoria Texas passed away surrounded by family on September 17, 2025. He was born in Mooretown, Ontario Canada. Ian was an only child who started at a very young age working on his family’s farm. He graduated as a Landscape Irrigator from Guelph University in 1964 and married his High School Sweetheart Jean in 1966. They immigrated to Victoria Texas in 1979 and built the home they lived out the rest of their lives in 1980. Ian started his own landscaping business Majestic Services in Mission Valley Texas in 1984. He provided landscaping and irrigation services throughout South Central Texas and became one of the biggest commercial growers of trees and plants throughout his lifetime.
Ian is survived by his son Cameron (Erin) McBean and daughter Shelli (Dave) Morris; grandchildren Brooke, Zachary, Brianna (Blayke), Paige, Ross, Luke, Liam, Rowan, Finn; great grandchildren Jacoby and Sunny. He has many surviving brother/sister in laws and nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Jean Smith McBean and his daughter Sherri McBean.
Ian was the ultimate definition of a Texan. Although born in Canada he was a cowboy through and through and always had his trademark cowboy attire; boots, belt buckle, western shirt and hat to prove it.
He loved the heat of Texas and despite his family’s protests you’d never find his thermostat below 88 degrees. Even as a young child, Ian was a hard worker. He learned to drive a tractor and ride cattle as young as 4 years old. Being an only child he had to balance school and working on the farm, waking early to care for the animals and racing home after school to help his father. He once told the story that if he got home and counted and sorted the eggs fast enough, he’d have time to watch some cartoons. In addition to his work, Ian enjoyed gambling and was a great blackjack player. One of Ian’s strongest characteristics is that he was always going to live life his own way and nobody was going to tell him what to do. Ian was determined to never retire and continued working up until the very end. The loss his family feels is immeasurable but the impact Ian had on us all will never be forgotten.
The family would especially like to thank Ian’s employees Virginia Cash, Roger Johnson, Leslie Edwards, and Eric Stryk for their dedication to Ian and Majestic Services.
