She was born March 31, 1926, in Sherman, Texas, the daughter of Lydia Loving Taylor and Ira Whitfield Taylor. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Jefferson, Texas and University of Texas in Austin. In 1947, she married Fred W. Knight and moved to San Antonio where they continued to live and raise three sons.
Ila was a committed Christian, and a dedicated member of Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She wrote the church history on the seventy-fifth and hundredth anniversaries of the church.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred; son, Tom; grandson, Wes Lenz and wife, Shannon.
She is survived by her son, Kingsley Knight (Denise), and great-grandson, Maverick Lenz; son, Fred W. Knight, Jr., and partner, Mirtha Bruni. She is also survived by Donna Knight, spouse of Tom; grandchildren, Cory and Sara Knight. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to charity of your choice.
